Committees The City Council has established a number of Committees as well as a Planning Commission. The Planning Commission and the Committees were established by City Council action for the purpose of assisting in the effectiveness of City Government and services. These advisory Commission/Committees continue in force until ended by Council action. Ad Hoc Committees, however, are temporary and are formed by Council minute action specifically to perform a task or to research a project. Once this type of Committee has completed a designated project and has compiled and submitted a report to Council it ceases to exist. No Council action is required to disband an Ad Hoc Committee.
All functions and activities of the Commission/Committees are subject to the direction and approval of the City Council. As a governing body, Council directs the Commission/Committees through the designated City Staff Liaison Officer. The liaison is responsible for coordinating and communicating the activities of the Commission/Committees to and with City Staff and City Council.
Our Commission/Committees help determine overall City goals; citizen members advise and assist the City Council in areas of special concern. By opening additional lines of communication between the general public and the City Council, City Government is responsive to the needs of its citizens.
The Commission/Committees make recommendations to the City Council, they do not establish City policy or administrative direction.
Below is a table of the Commission and Committees and their meeting time and location. If you are interested in becoming a member of one of the established Committees contact the City Clerk's Department at (909) 430-2212 or e-mail .
