Councilwoman Bea Cortes was first elected to City Council in 2002.  The importance of serving others and the community is rooted in her upbringing and has always been reflected in her personal and professional life.  She has lived in Grand Terrace since 1972. 
Subsequently, she has been appointed by her fellow elected officials to the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Southern California’s regional organization promoting economic growth, personal well-being, and livable communities.  Bea Cortes is currently serving her second appointment by the council as the City’s representative on the Board of the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG). SANBAG, is the council of governments and transportation planning agency for San Bernardino County serving 1.9 million residents.  Additional appointments include: Major Projects Committee Commuter Rail Committee Plans and Programs Committee Administrative Committee.
